In school I had a passion for U.S. History and Government – an interest that remains with me as I work hard each day in the history-rich U.S. Capitol as your Senator. I enjoy my work every day. My day varies, but it is usually jam-packed with Congressional hearings, meetings with constituents and learning about legislation. Of course, throughout the day, I also vote on amendments and bills. Before being elected to the Senate in 2002, I was Arkansas’ Attorney General. There is a big difference between my work now as a U.S. Senator and when I served as Attorney General. As Attorney General, my job was to protect Arkansans interests and families and perform legal actions for our state government. As Senator, law and justice remain the bottom line. I have brought my commitment to protecting families to the Senate, but my new position gives me more authority to change laws in order to make them more just. I also deal with a broader array of issues, including homeland security and education. I miss living in Arkansas, but I also enjoy my responsibilities in Washington and will continue to work hard for you and your family.
