WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln and U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today announced that Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation will receive $5,620,335 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The funds will be used to help with recovery efforts from the January ice storm.

“January’s ice storm caused significant damage to the northern half of our state,” Lincoln said. “In the days after the storm, our first responders and community members answered the call by assisting in the recovery response. I am pleased that the federal government is doing its part to help with recovery efforts.”

“Cleaning up the damage and debris required considerable time and manpower,” Pryor said. “I’m pleased FEMA came through with more federal resources to help offset the costs Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation incurred.”

“Carroll Electric equipment sustained significant damage from of the ice storm. This funding helps provide the company the resources it needs to continue serving Arkansans,” Boozman said. “I’m pleased that FEMA is able to provide resources to help offset the tremendous cost associated with the storm.”

The grant will finance repairs and replace storm-related damage to Carroll Electric Cooperative’s electrical distribution area in Benton, Boone, Carroll, Madison, Newton and Pope Counties.
